34. Two Days of Black & White

I guess I didn’t realize how weird it is that my outfits two days in a row were some rendition of black and white, but now putting it in to one post makes it a little strange.

I didn’t get a chance to post last night due to ladies night celebrating National Taco Day at Big Star Wicker Park and then spent the rest of the night packing for Cincy this weekend. So I’m combining them for you today and hope to be able to post today’s outfit sometime this weekend.

By the way, if you guys haven’t had a chance to check out Big Star yet you definitely should. Amazing margaritas and delicious $3 tacos. What could be better than that?

Wednesday:

The weather has been so absolutely unpredictable lately I never know how to dress when I leave in the morning. It was supposed to be a bit warmer on Wednesday so I decided a skirt sans tights was appropriate, but wore a long sleeve top to even it out a bit.

Flowy a-line skirts are so cute and great for work. I particularly like this one for it’s fit and length, it’s really hard for me to find skirts and dresses for work that are small enough without being too short. (Gap – find similar ones here) This white lace long sleeve top is probably one of my favorites. It’s super comfortable and flattering with just about anything I pair it with. It looks especially great with a simple pair of jeans. (Victoria’s Secret – Moda International here for $39.50)

These flats aren’t necessarily my ideal pair of black flats, but I’m kind of in between right now. I wore my favorite pair of black flats so much they fell apart and I haven’t yet found another that quite compare. These ones are definitely comfortable though because they’re Dr. Scholl’s brand so I don’t mind wearing them all day through the night. The silver buckle is a nice accent as well. (DSW – Dr. Scholl’s similar & cuter here for $49.95)

Here’s a close up of the lace detailing which is gorgeous! I kept my accessories simple, with a diamond necklace that was my grandmother’s. It is one of my favorites and always adds a nice touch of sparkle.

Thursday:

So I must start off by telling you, I curled my hair in a sock bun the night before. I’ve done it before, but never gotten such a great result! It is so much easier than curling your hair on your own and having it high up on your end gives the curls so much volume.

For an easy tutorial see my pinterest pin here.

Here’s a closer shot of my curls. Like I said, I love the volume you get by making a sock bun. Also, an up close shot of the floral detailing on my shirt, which I’ll get in to below.

This skirt is amazing, it’s super light weight and chic. The thin black horizontal lines add a great texture to it as well. It’s a bit clingy but I love it and since it’s stretchy I can adjust if I want it to be high waisted, as I wore here or sit lower on my hips. (Macy’s – $20) I chose the looser top to off set the tightness in the skirt. I like this one in particular because it mixes fabrics. (It’s a bit hard to tell in the picture, but the top is more of a light wool and the skirt is thin cotton.) The floral and bead detailing at the neckline is also great and is an accessory in itself. (Wet Seal – $13)

Here’s a better look at the skirt and how much do you love these wedges? I know I do.

They look just like the new line of Toms wedges, but were literally a fraction of the price. They were a bit hard to wear in, but I used my moleskin trick in the trouble areas and broke the fabric in a bit and now they’re super comfortable. (Urban Outfitters – $5)

So happy it’s Friday! I hope everyone has some great plans for the weekend. I am going to Cincy with my roommate to visit our boyfriends. Adorable, right? We’re going to the UC-Miami Football game so I’ll be sure to take some good pictures.

Thanks for reading.

xoxo,

T
